It was created to promote the interests of land surveyors, to maintain high standards of professionalism and ethics, and to provide a forum for the discussion of issues related to land surveying.

Aims and Objectives To support and protect the character, status, and interests of the profession of the land surveyor generally, and particularly of land surveyors practicing in the Island of Jamaica. To promote honorable practice, to repress malpractice, to settle disputed points of practice, and to decide all questions of professional usage or courtesy between and amongst land surveyors in Jamaica. To consider all questions affecting the interests of the said profession, and if necessary, to petition the government and legislature of Jamaica, and other persons and bodies, to promote deputations in relation thereto, and to procure any changes of Law of practice, and the promotion or improvement in the principles and methods of surveying.
